Elizabeth Olsen Reveals Marvel Initially Didn't Have Long-Term Plans for Scarlet Witch

There is little doubt that Scarlet Witch will be a major player in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Elizabeth Olsen has revealed that this wasn't initially the case. The WandaVision star shared how Marvel had originally signed her on for two films when she was cast as Wanda Maximoff.

Olsen was recently a guest on the Awards Chatter podcast where she confirmed that her first contract didn't have a lot.

"I signed on for two [movies] and a cameo," Olsen shared. However, things have changed as Marvel continued handing her new contracts since then.

"I've gone through three rounds of contracts with Marvel already. I just do, like, appetizers or something, they never have me over for the big meal!" Olsen pointed out, stating that other MCU stars get bigger contracts.

"People sign six-movie, nine-movie deals, I've heard," she said. "That's a lot! And they didn't really know how much further it was gonna go. We never knew if we were even gonna touch half the stuff we did in WandaVision."

Olsen's first appearance in the MCU was in the post-credits scene for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She was officially introduced as Wanda in Avengers: Age of Ultron and we're guessing that the second movie in her first contract was Captain America: Civil War. Needless to say, we're glad that Marvel continued with Wanda's story arc in a magnificent way.

The next MCU project for Olsen is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is currently in production and scheduled for release on March 25, 2022.
