Edgar Wright Says James Gunn Ought To Direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Marvel fans were pretty surprised when Disney decided to fire James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The director had been an invaluable player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only was Gunn responsible for the Guardian of the Galaxy film trilogy, but he was also set to build the franchise's Marvel Cosmic Universe.

Now, as Marvel moves on to the fourth phase of the MCU, Edgar Wright continues to stand by Gunn's side, saying that Disney ought to bring back the director for the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Taking to Twitter, Wright decided to throw in Gunn's name for GOTG 3, suggesting the director after a fan decided to recommend his name along with directorial duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

"I'd like to throw in this suggestion too: @JamesGunn," Wright wrote in his post.

Gunn would have been perfect for GOTG 3. The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy had been Gunn's baby, and the director actually had a script prepared for Vol. 3. It was Gunn who had turned an obscure team of Marvel comic book characters into one of the most loved ragtag group of cosmic superheroes.

Unfortunately, Disney decided to part ways with Gunn last year after an alt-right extremist launched a smear campaign against the filmmaker. Digging up a fourteen-year-old inappropriate tweet by Gunn, this alt-right extremist turned the tide against Gunn, forcing Disney to fire the director from Marvel.

Now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 remains directorless.
