What happened in Edens Zero Episode 16?
In Edens ZeroEpisode 16, Fireworks, as Spider was able to infiltrate Edens Zero from the inside, only Hermit could restore the security systems of the ship. Still conflicted, Hermit asks that the crew would evacuate without waiting for her as she looked back on the events which led to her alienation from humans fifteen years ago.
The flashback of Hermit showed planet Newton where she wanted to be friends with Dr. Müller and his research team and she assisted them in making a machine to provide energy to robots who are dying on Hook, a nearby planet. To her surprise, the real reason behind the work of Müller obliterated Hook as they created a disaster to kill the robots. Müller also experimented on Hermit for two years and it only stopped when they were arrested. Hermit them distanced herself from humans.
Present time, Shiki would not leave Hermit behind despite her demands. This led to her realizing the value of friendship between the team despite her distrust. She was encouraged by Shiki to trust herself once more and she chose to save their ship, humiliate Spider, and be back to her cheerful self.
