Eddie Brock And Venom Have Officially Become The Internet’s Favorite Couple

It might sound strange, but it looks like Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock and Venom have just become the internet's favorite couple.

Sure, Sony's Venom might have been at the receiving end of some pretty harsh reviews from critics, however, fans couldn't help but gush over the cute banter between Eddie Brock and his parasitic friend, Venom. Now, according to a report by Syfy Wire, Tumblr's weekly roundup, "Week in Review" has Symbrock (the ship name for Eddie and Venom) on the number one spot on the site's list of Top Ships.

For those who aren't familiar with Tumblr and its system, the site does a weekly roundup where its Fandometrics team analyzes and breaks down analytics that it's gained across the site to determine popular topics from its users. The team does this every week, and it looks like Eddie and Venom's relationship has been a pretty popular topic on the site.

Speaking in an interview with the publication, Fandometrics Senior Content Insights Manager Amanda Brennan explains that she wasn't that surprised by the outcome of their analysis for the week. Brennan had seen users reblogging and creating original fan art of Symbrock – she just didn't expect the content to come at the volume that it did.

"I knew this was coming, but not at this volume. And watching it unfold is fascinating," Brennan explained.

The internet's always been a wildly imaginative place, so it isn't really surprising to see netizens rallying behind the fictional relationship between Brock and Venom. After all, the two did share a pretty rowdy kiss in Venom.

Venom is currently screening in cinemas.
