While its second season ended over a year ago now, Australia just banned the ecchi anime How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Omega.

The anime’s ban was revealed by the Australian Classification Board through its website.

There, the anime is listed as having been “refused classification,” which means copies of it cannot be legally imported and sold in the country.

Every anime season sees the release of new ecchi shows. For instance, the ongoing Winter 23 season has My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog and Ayakashi Triangle.

In the Spring 2021 season, the notable ecchi anime was How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Omega, which is the second season of the ecchi isekai anime series.

Though it's based on an ongoing light novel series, a third season for the anime has not yet been announced.

As for its story, the series follows Takuma Sakamoto, a shut-in gamer who gets transported into the world of his favorite MMORPG. He is summoned as the Demon Lord Diablo, which is his player character.

Upon being summoned, Takuma is hit by a spell that was cast by his two young girl summoners.

Because of his magic ring though, the spell backfires and instead turns the two girls into his servants.

The story then follows Takuma as he journeys with his new servants and tries to help them break free from their servitude.

The show’s premise should be familiar to most anime fans as it has the setup of a typical isekai show.

Though, unlike more action-focused shows, this anime has way more fanservice and ecchi elements.

Because of this, the anime was banned in Australia, at least when it comes to importing and selling the show’s home video release.

What’s interesting to note is that the anime’s first season was restricted to those aged 15 and up due to its strong sexual themes.

Given this, many would’ve expected to see the second season get a similar rating instead of being outright banned.

Despite not being legally available to purchase, anime fans can still watch How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord Season 2 through streaming platforms as the refusal of classification only extends to the home video release.
