Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is officially an Oscar-winning animated film and could be the best movie to ever feature Spider-Man. Thanks to stunning animation, a heartfelt story, and memorable characters, this film will stay in the minds of many for years to come. Sony now has plans to make a number of sequels and spin-offs, though a lot of us are dreading the fact that it will get exploited and feel less special.
Fans that do want a bit more of Into the Spider-Verse probably picked up the Blu-Ray, which has a ton of extra features. The heavily touted extra that has many excited is the "Alternate Universe Cut," which has producers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord talking about some of their early drafts that included more screen time for Gangke and completely different events happening from the final cut.
There are a lot of interesting scenes that were cut, one of them being a Doctor Octopus who survives. In the final product, she gets hit by a bus and we never see her again, with many of us assuming that she died. However, in the earlier drafts, she survives and dives straight into the multiverse to learn more since the villainess is obsessed with knowledge.
It actually makes sense for her character to do that but what we got from the final version was great. There's also a ton of other moments from the drafts that feel a bit janky and we can see why they were cut.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is now available on Blu-Ray and digital outlets.
