Early Reviews For Venom Call It A 'Clunky' And 'Complete Mess'

Venom might be set for release this Friday, but the Sony comic book movie just made its global premiere in Westwood, Los Angeles and now fans have a few early reviews to go through to see whether the movie's worth their time.

Though there has been some hype over Venom, there's also been a whole lot of doubt on whether or not the Symbiote standalone would make a mark in this comic book movie climate.

Now, early reviews for the film have finally made their way online, and while some fans are pretty happy with Tom Hardy's performance as Venom, others aren't entirely sure about what they feel, calling the movie "Catwoman level bad" and "clunky."

Some even go as far as calling the film "a complete failure," and a "total mess" that ignores storytelling. Others have been much more indulgent with the movie, saying that while there's a lot about the movie that doesn't work at all, there's some serious charm in the whole relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom.

Early reviews are usually an indicator of issues with a film, and it looks like the general consensus over Venom is that while the film does have its moments, it also has serious problems in storytelling. The film's Rotten Tomato score isn't out yet, but based on the reviews, we're not really expecting much from the Symbiote Standalone movie. Which is such a shame considering that Venom was supposed to be the very first film in Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters.

Venom is slated to release on October 5, 2018.
