EA Studio In Charge Of Upcoming Star Wars Title Experiences Executive Shake-Up

It looks like Jade Raymond has just left EA Motive, the studio that's been working on an unnamed Star Wars video game for Lucasfilm.

According to a new report by Venture Beat, the co-founder of EA motive has just left the studio in the hands of Samantha Ryan. Along with EA Motive, Ryan is now taking on responsibility for EA's Maxis, BioWare, and mobile studios, making her the executive in charge of all of the company's North American studios except for EA Sports and Respawn.

While this change of hands might not send bells ringing, fans should know that a restricted organizational ladder in EA Motive could affect the studio's upcoming projects. This includes an unnamed Star Wars title that Amy Hennig had been in charge of before she decided to leave the company once EA decided to close down Visceral studios.

Speaking in a June interview with Game Informer, Raymond told gamers that while EA Motive was planning to pivot Visceral's Star Wars game to a project that gave allowed for more "player agency," they were also planning to make use of quite a number of the material that the studio had left behind.

Still, despite this internal shake-ups, EA tells Game Spot in a statement that the company is currently focused on bringing more quality games and content to gamers around the world.

"Laura Miele and her team have taken several steps internally to better support our game makers in this pursuit, such as expanding Samantha Ryan's portfolio to lead additional studios, including Motive. Samantha is known for driving creative design and supporting game teams so they can bring their visions to life. She is a deeply experienced game-maker with a gameography that spans from The Sims to Batman: Arkham City to No One Lives Forever to the highly-anticipated Anthem," the company writes.

Hopefully, all this experience will help smoothen things out and hasten the development of this upcoming Star Wars game from EA Motive.
