EA Is Reportedly Not Working on Star Wars Battlefront 3

EA is reportedly not working on a Star Wars Battlefront 3 right now. Earlier today, Lucasfilm Games and EA announced that they would be collaborating on three new Star Wars video games in the future. All three of those games would be overseen by the developer Respawn Entertainment. However, because of this announcement, it seems like the two companies have confirmed that they won’t be working together on a sequel of DICE's Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the near future.

According to a report from GamesBeat, DICE will not work on a new game in the Star Wars Battlefront series. The report states that EA will instead be the one working with the Star Wars IP in the future with Respawn Entertainment. Because of this report, a lot of new projects were revealed today with Respawn Entertainment leading the projects.

The reason why EA is consolidating its work on Star Wars games at Respawn Entertainment rather than DICE is that DICE company will now focus on the Battlefield franchise. After the mediocre launch of the game Battlefield 2042 at the end of last year, the company is now focused on fixing its most recent release before it works on anything else. Although it seems like DICE is going to be EA’s developer that will work on Battlefield games well into the future. Despite the rough state that the franchise is in over the past few years, EA still believes that Battlefield needs to be a core component of the company in the future, which is why the DICE company won’t be juggling the Battlefront series as well.

It is worth noting that all of these plans that were recently announced could change in the future, so the idea of Star Wars Battlefront 3 being released someday shouldn’t be completely lost. But if you’re someone who is hoping to see the sequel of Star Wars Battlefront 2 any time soon, it looks like you’ll be quite disappointed for the time being.
