There's no denial that Dungeons & Dragons is perhaps the most popular role-playing game of all time that is still beloved and played by many today. For years, there have been attempts on making a new live-action film based on the game which finally came to fruition back in 2019 when Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley were hired as directors and then moved forward to production early last year.
Today, Paramount Pictures and eOne announced the official title of the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie which will be called Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. They also release a short teaser video that accompanies the title announcement which you can check below:
According to Polygon, Daley and Goldstein briefly appeared during the Wizards of the Coast's D&D Direct event to give players a preview of where in the Dungeons & Dragons universe the movie might be headed. "It’s a dream come true to bring the forgotten realms and the sword coast to life," Goldstein teased while Daley also added that filming has finally finished, "We just wrapped shooting in some of the world’s most incredible locations."
The film's cast includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Jason Wong, and Daisy Head. Goldstein, Daley, and Michael Michael Gilio wrote the screenplay based on the story conceived by Chris McKay and Gilio. Jeremy Latcham, Brian Goldner, and Nick Meyer serve as producers.
It is exciting that the film finally has an official title now as we are anticipating its release next year. The logo also looks great as it is reminiscent of the classic logo that we know. Of course, it's still too early to speculate about what the film is going to be and the general audience won't get hyped about it until they release the first trailer which we might see later this year.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 3, 2023.
