Dune Wins Best Original Score at the Golden Globe Awards

The awards season has officially started with the 79th Golden Globe Awards last night. Despite the controversies with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) last year and boycotts from studios and publicists, the ceremony still went on albeit in a private gathering without any telecast and it was only attended by the members of the organization. The winners were announced publicly through social media.

The science-fiction epic Dune won Best Original Score at the 79th Golden Globe Awards for Hans Zimmer's musical score on the film. It competed against The French Dispatch, Encanto, The Power of the Dog, and Parallel Mothers. However, it lost in the categories Best Motion Picture - Drama and Best Director for Denis Villeneuve.

It's up to you to decide if you think that these wins are deserving or not. We can all agree that Zimmer's score for Dune is worthy of a lot of awards recognition and it is great that is being recognized by a major awards-giving body like the Golden Globes. This is just the beginning as we're heading deep into the season until the Oscars night at the end of March and we will find out if these wins will continue in other ceremonies.
