Dune: The Sisterhood Sets Filming Date

For the past few weeks, we've been hearing a lot of major casting updates surrounding HBO Max's Dune prequel series Dune: The Sisterhood which is also a sign that they are gearing up for production. Now, it looks like we have some new information on its filming date and it's sooner than you might think.

According to Deadline, Dune: The Sisterhood is set to begin filming next month in Budapest, Hungary. It would mean that both the series and Dune: Part Two will be in production at the same time. The sequel is currently filming at Origo Studios in Budapest, where the majority of the first film was also shot.

The series is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides (as depicted in Dune) and it will follow the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit. Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson, and Indira Varma are already confirmed to star.

Diane Ademu-John serves as the creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer of the series. Johan Renck is set to direct the first episode and serve as executive producer as well. Denis Villeneuve, who directs the Dune films, is also part of the executive producing team.

It is exciting to learn that the series is set to begin filming soon since it would mean that they've already been working on the film for a significant amount of time. It's also a sign that we might be able to see the series by late next year or early 2024. Either way, this is a huge indication that the series is officially happening.
