Dune Director Hypes up Paul and Lady Jessica's Journey in Part 2

There is little doubt that Paul Atreides and Lady Jessica went through A LOT in Dune. The House Atreides made the huge move to an unforgiving desert planet only to be massacred by House Harkonnen. Duke Leto Atreides' only son and concubine then needed to escape to the desert, risking death in the struggle to survive but it's far from over. Director Denis Villeneuve confirms that the two are in for an amazing journey in Dune Part Two!

The first film concluded with Paul having to face off against a warrior named Jamis who challenged his and his mother's admission into the Fremen. Amazingly, Paul defeated the warrior and secured their admission into the tribe. However, things are not going to be easy for the two.

Denis Villeneuve attended the PGA Awards where he spoke to Deadline about what will happen to Paul and his mother in Dune Part 2.

"It's going to be another beautiful journey in the desert again," Villeneuve said. "It's the journey where Paul Atreides and his mother, Lady Jessica, make contact with the Fremen culture and meet with the Fremen."

Although we'll get to see more of Paul and Lady Jessica, Villeneuve points out that the sequel will also introduce a new struggle for Timothee Chalamet's character.

"It's Paul's journey against the enemy ... It's a movie that will be more cinematic," he said.

It's a promising tease and for book readers, that means seeing more about the Fremen. Needless to say, we can't wait to see more of Paul's story soon.

Dune Part Two is expected to begin production later this year and main cast members Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Javier Bardem are set to return. The sequel is already scheduled for release on October 20, 2023.
