It has been three years since the premiere of Warcraft and we're nowhere close to seeing a sequel. Although the failed trilogy based on the Blizzard game is never happening at this point, director Duncan Jones has confirmed that the follow-up to the 2016 film would have focused on the battle between Durotan's son Go'el and the villainous Gul'dan.
Jones recently spoke to Collider about the 4K release of his film Moon in celebration of its tenth year anniversary and the director was somehow asked what could have happened in the Warcraft sequel. Here's what Jones had to say about the possible storyline for the trilogy:
The introduction of Thrall was certainly teased in Warcraft when Go'el was found by a human. It's a story that Jones truly wanted to pursue and there is little doubt that he is still heartbroken about the backlash the first film was dealt with.
While Warcraft never worked out, Jones has certainly moved forward. His most recent film Mute was released in 2018 and he is currently working on a Rogue Trooper movie.
The Moon 4K remastered version is now available.
