Dredd 2012 Producer Wants To Make An R-Rated Mega Man

Adi Shankar may not be a household name, but he has been producer to some pretty well-received movies like the Dredd reboot and the Liam Neeson-fueled movie, The Grey. As of now Shankar is producing the Castlevania series for Netflix, but he has his sights set on another video game property, Mega Man.

In an interview with WWG, Shankar opens up about his thoughts on "nerd culture" and how it's turned into the new status quo. He also talks about being a "massive gamer" and how he likes to adapt things that he loved as a kid and bringing them to life in "an interesting way." As for the game he wants to adapt into live-action, he says, "I'd love to do a hard-R Mega Man."

Now I've played my fair share of Mega Man games, and I'm pretty sure they're far from being rated R. PG-13, maybe, but a ‘hard-R?' You're looking at a massive cut in your audience. Then again, it's not like a Mega Man project is currently in production. At best we get a cameo from the Blue Bomber in Disney's Wreck-It Ralph 2.

Then again, Shankar was able to produce an R-rated re-imagining of the Power Rangers called Power/Rangers on Youtube. I'll let you decide what you think about it.

On the other hand, I really liked the Dredd reboot, and Shankar may be up to something when he says he wants to make a live-action, R-rated Mega Man. At best, I think it would just be another one of his online shorts.
