Dragon Ball Super Chapter 77 is almost here, and fans are excited to find out more about Granolah's past and how Goku's father, Bardock is connected to his story. The English version of the latest chapter will be released on Viz Media on October 20, but previews and major spoilers have been already been leaked online, and two characters are currently trending on Twitter: Goku and Bardock.
Long-time Dragon Ball fans would know that Bardock is the father of Raditz and Goku. He made his debut as the titular protagonist of the 1990 TV special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku. The Saiyan warrior was known as an adept fighter and devoted Saiyan Army soldier under the Frieza Force until he realized Frieza's tyrannical plans to annhilate the Saiyan race. Bardock was primarily created by Toei Animation, but the character also appeared in a two-panel cameo appearance in the Akira Toriyama's manga, in Frieza's flashback when he sees Goku, who reminds him of Bardock, Frieza recalls that Goku's father had attacked him right before he destroyed Planet Vegeta, and died alongside the rest of the Saiyans when Frieza annhilated the planet using a Supernova.
For the first time ever, Dragon Ball Super will introduce Bardock's story to the canon created by Akira Toriyama, and it will reveal what happened forty years ago in planet Cereal. In the previous chapter, Monaito told Granolah that it was Bardock who saved them in the past, and fans will finaly get to see how Goku's father was seen as a hero.
That's why it's no surprise that both Goku and Bardock are trending on Twitter. It's likely that Chapter 78 will continue Bardock's story. Major spoilers have already revealed how the crime syndicate, The Heeter Force, are connected to Granolah's past, but it looks like there's more to what Monaito revealed so far.
Dragon Ball Super Chapter 77 is set to release on Oct. 20.
