Dragon Ball: Here's Akira Toriyama's Original Android 13 Design

While they might not be canon, fans do have a certain appreciation for some of the Dragon Ball Z movie villains. Android 13 is one of those characters since fans have often wondered about the other Androids who came before 16, 17, 18, and 19 (Dr. Gero is technically Android 20). To celebrate the 20th Dragon Ball movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, someone decided to share the original design Akira Toriyama had for Android 13.

As fans can see, it's nearly identical to the design we see in the movie. He still has white hair and a trucker hat, though we don't see his transformation after absorbing the parts of Androids 14 and 15.

He is also a bit thinner than the version seen in the film, though that always seems to be the case with Toriyama's initial designs, as the animators tend to add more muscles to these new designs. Granted, they didn't do this with his more recent Dragon Ball Super designs, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Though not as popular as Cooler or Broly, Android 13 is still pretty popular among Dragon Ball fans. He was added to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 as DLC along with other characters like Tapion and Gohan-Absorbed Majin Buu. Sadly, his blue-skinned transformation wasn't added to the game, though you can unlock Super Android 13's clothes (and skin) in the game.

With Broly now being added to the canon via the upcoming movie, it will be interesting to see if other movie characters will be added as well. Bardock seems to be in the running since we see his hand in the Broly trailer, but we don't know who else could be added. Cooler would probably be added before Android 13, who is probably a close third.

Okay, maybe after Android 21.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly comes to Japan on December 14 and to North America on January 16, 2019.
