After getting some scans from V-Jump, Bandai Namco have decided to please the masses by revealing a trailer for Android 17, who joins Dragon Ball FighterZ by the end of the month. Along with Cooler, the two will be a part of the fan-named Brothers DLC since the two are siblings of Android 18 and Freeza respectively. Unlike his sister, 17 fights by himself and is wearing his Dragon Ball Super garb, which is great since this is a good look for the character.
If the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like 17 is going to be a melee-focused character, with a few range attacks in his arsenal. Like in Super, 17 can use his forcefield for counterattacks and can leap across the screen, similar to Black Panther in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. He doesn't look like your typical FighterZ character, which means he could play differently from everyone else.
There might be some disappointment in those who wanted to see 17 in his Androids Saga attire, but his Super look is the more relevant one. Plus, it's what he wore during the Tournament of Power, the arc that made him everyone's favorite Super character. In an arc filled with character inconsistencies and poorly written moments, 17 was able to rise above it all.
He even won the tournament, hence his MVP monicker from fans.
As of this writing, 17 looks to be the last DLC character for the current FighterZ Pass, which added eight more characters to the game. Broly, Bardock, Vegito, Fused Zamasu, Base Goku, and Base Vegeta have all been released, with Cooler and 17 being the only fighters left to round out the pack. Fans are hoping for a second pass that adds more fan-favorites like Master Roshi, Kefla, and Great Saiyaman, but we'll have to wait for a future announcement.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The Switch version comes out at the end of the week, along with all the DLC.
