Dragon Ball: Frieza Voice Actor Ryusei Nakao Diagnosed with COVID-19


Legendary voice actor Ryusei Nakao has just been diagnosed positive for COVID-19. The Dragon Ball star who plays Frieza in the anime is reportedly in quarantine at home until his symptoms have ceased.

Ryusei Nakao's talent agency 81 Produce announced on Monday that the voice actor has been diagnosed with COVID-19. According to the agency, Nakao had a slight fever and cough on Saturday morning, so he decided to take a PCR test. He tested positive on Sunday.

The statement further confirms that Ryusei Nakao has chosen to stay at home where he is receiving medical treatment. The actor also promised to provide information to help medical personnel trace his contacts and that he will share updates on his condition. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Nakao's agency also apologized "for any inconvenience caused to all related companies and fans." Moreover, 81 Produce stated that they will work to "prevent infection and spread by giving top priority to ensuring the safety of people and everyone involved."

Ryusei Nakao is best known for playing Frieza in the Dragon Ball anime. His other notable works are Baikinman in the Soreike! Anpanman franchise, Caesar Clown in One Piece, Kurotsuchi Mayumi in Bleach, and Isami Nishimura in Touch.

In the meantime, the Dragon Ball franchise is going through a few problems as well. The upcoming film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was initially set to premiere this month but the release had to be postponed due to the Toei Animation hack in early March. The hack also delayed the studio's other upcoming projects including new episodes for One Piece and Digimon Ghost Hunt.
