Dr. Stone was one of the most anticipated shows of the Spring 23 season for shounen anime fans, and while it has ended, it will come back in just a few months. Recently, it was announced that Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 will premiere in October 2023.
While there are still two weeks left in Spring 23, Dr. Stone Season 3 has already ended its broadcast. That’s because the latest season has a split-cour schedule, and its first half consists of only 11 episodes.
Dr. Stone Season 3 Gets New Music Video for Opening Theme
Dr. Stone: New World's split-cour release was announced previously, and it’s the first season in the franchise to get such a release schedule.
For comparison, the first season was 24 episodes long and aired in two consecutive seasons.
Meanwhile, Season 2 was only 11 episodes in length, so it only ran for one season.
To celebrate the end of the first cour, an official anime music video for the opening Wasuregataki by Huwie Ishizaki was released on the Toho animation YouTube channel. Check it out here:
While the music video doesn’t feature new footage, it’s still a treat for fans, as it’s a nice look back at some of the events in the third season’s first half.
The music video was released alongside the announcement of the show’s return in the Fall 2023 season.
Though aside from confirming the release, there wasn’t much info revealed on Dr. Stone’s official channels.

Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 Release Date Announced
A split-cour release isn’t new for anime. In fact, a number of recent popular anime have split-cour release schedules, including Bleach: TYBW, Gundam: Witch from Mercury, and Spy x Family, among others.
While a consecutive season release might be better for fans, there’s no doubt that a split-cour release is better for studios as the extra time is very much welcome so that the anime doesn’t get delayed.
This is important, especially considering how many shows got delayed during the Winter 23 season.
There were even some delayed shows in Spring 23, including titles such as Oshi no Ko and Mashle.
Dr. Stone: New World will return with its second cour in October 2023. It is expected to air once again in Japan through Tokyo MX, KBS, SUN, BS11, and TVA.
Meanwhile, Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 is also expected to release on Crunchyroll in October for viewers in the US and other selected regions.
