It’s a great time to be a Dr. Stone fan. Even though the manga has ended, fans have a lot to look forward to in the last quarter of 2023. Aside from the new cour of the anime’s third season, it was revealed that the Dr. Stone manga will return to Weekly Shonen Jump with new chapters.
Of course, this doesn’t mean Dr. Stone will return to serialization. After all, the manga concluded a bit over a year ago.
Instead, the Dr. Stone manga will get three new chapters that are being made to celebrate the anime’s return.
Dr. Stone Fans Have Lots to Look Forward to This Season
Dr. Stone is one of Shonen Jump’s most popular titles in recent years, and this is thanks in part to the anime adaptation by TMS Entertainment.
The anime began with its first season back in July 2019. Since then, the series has been renewed for two more seasons.
Its third season is titled Dr. Stone: New World. Unlike the second season which only had 11 episodes, Season 3 will have over 20 episodes in total. This makes it more similar to the first season’s 24-episode count.
The difference with New World is that it has a split-cour release schedule, meaning there was a one-season break between its two halves.
New World’s first half aired between April and June 2023. Earlier this month, the anime began airing once again.
Aside from treating fans to the anime’s return, Dr. Stone is also further giving them more reason to get excited as new chapters are going to be released soon.

Dr. Stone Manga Makes Surprise Return With Three New Chapters
The Dr. Stone manga's surprise return was announced recently via author Riichiro Inagaki’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. There, he confirmed that three new chapters will be released in Weekly Shonen Jump soon.
Instead of being a side story, Inagaki says that these new chapters will be a continuation of the manga’s story. The first of these three chapters will also be 47 pages long and will come with a special color page.
Dr. Stone’s first new chapter in over a year will be published in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 49 for 2023, which will be released in November. The next two chapters will then be released in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, the anime’s third season is getting new episodes every week on Crunchyroll in the US and other selected countries.
