It’s official! Dr. Romantic season 3 will arrive soon!
Dr. Romantic has been one of the biggest K-drama franchises in history after its first and second seasons’ record-breaking run. The first part of the drama was aired in November 2016, while the second part premiered in January 2020.
The series tells the story of Han Suk Kyu’s Boo Yong Joo, a triple-board certified surgeon who once worked at Seoul’s top medical center before a traumatic incident caused him to lose everything. He then begins working at Doldam, a small hospital in Gangwon province, where he meets doctors and guides them to become great medical practitioners.
After a long wait, the drama is finally returning with season 3.
Dr. Romantic Season 3 Confirms Arrival
A source from SBS, per Daily Sports, revealed that the production for Dr. Romantic 3 will begin to be completed before its target 2023 release date.
Scriptwriters Kang Eun Kyung and Lim Hye Min will join the team again alongside director Yoo In Suk. Meanwhile, Han Suk Kyu will reprise the titular role and appear alongside the main cast members from season 2, Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung.

“‘Dr. Romantic’ received great love from viewers each season. Although two years have passed, the production team and actors will all do our best to prepare so that we can repay those who still remember and await [the return of] ‘Dr. Romantic,’” the production team said.
Dr. Romantic received heartfelt support from viewers. Its season 1, which featured Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin, scored a personal best viewership rating of 27.6 percent. Meanwhile, the second installment had a 27.1 percent personal best.
SBS Previously Refused To Confirm New Season
The new update came a year after the talks about Dr. Romantic Season 3 first emerged.
In 2021, an industry representative revealed that the medical drama would premiere its season 3 in Winter 2022. However, SBS said that nothing had been decided at that time.
Still, it assured everyone that it already began the talks regarding the third season’s production.
