Doom Patrol Star Brendan Fraser Cast as Mystery Villain in Batgirl Movie

The cast of Batgirl just got a lot more interesting. Brendan Fraser has just been confirmed to join the highly anticipated HBO Max movie. Interestingly, the Doom Patrol star will be playing the villain who goes up against Leslie Grace's Barbara Gordon. But which DC comic book baddie will Fraser portray in the film?

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Fraser will be part of the Batgirl movie. Interestingly, some sources are reporting that the Mummy star has been cast as DC's resident arsonist Firefly. However, other fans believe that Fraser is playing another member of Batman's Rogues Gallery.

There are speculations that Fraser was actually cast as Carmine Falcone, the mob boss who constantly goes up against Bruce Wayne. Falcone would be an interesting role for Fraser considering that the character practically reigns over Gotham City. With that in mind, it would be great to see another incarnation of the Roman.

Batgirl recently added Bad Boys For Life star Jacob Scipio in an undisclosed role. Although it was initially believed that Scipio was cast as the film's villain, there is a possibility that he might play one of Barbara's allies. Some fans are even speculating that Scipio could be Barbara's love interest.

The movie will also star J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, a role he previously played in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Simmons' involvement in the project has led to speculations that his relationship with Barbara will be explored in the film.

Batgirl is still in development and has not been given a production start date. Likewise, the movie has not been given an official release date but is believed to air on HBO Max next year.
