The "Don't Renew The Acolyte" petition from some Star Wars fans has failed to gain traction in comparison to the renewal campaign.

Last week, it was officially confirmed that Lucasfilm decided not to move forward with the second season of the High Republic-set Star Wars series. Several fans online expressed their disappointment over the news.

Since then, a campaign has started from the majority of the fans to convince Lucasfilm and Disney to change their mind. The "#RenewTheAcolyte" hashtag has trended online as more people showed their support for the movement.

A user named "PPC on Discord" in Change.org started a petition titled "Don't Renew The Acolyte" where they demand Lucasfilm and Disney to keep the show canceled and not do a reversal on their decision.

"Star Wars has always been about hope, adventure, and the eternal struggle between good and evil, not about who can be the most progressive. Let's keep the galaxy a place where stories are told for their merit, not their message," PPC on Discord wrote in their letter on the petition page.

As of the writing of this article, the campaign has gained 7,017 signatures. The goal is set at 7,500.

While that might sound impressive at first since they are closer to reaching their small goal, it pales in comparison with the other campaign.

The "Renew The Acolyte" campaign by Blue Smith on Change.org has gained 44,169 signatures. Its goal is set at 50,000. Around 5,000 signed just for today.

"Regardless of the orchestrated review bombing by a small faction of loud trolls, and all of the other obstacles this show had to face straight out the gate, it trended repeatedly throughout and after the show aired," Blue Smith wrote in the petition letter.

"It has a very dedicated fanbase, willing to fight for its continuation. It’s a story that deserves to be told."

Based on this, we can safely say that there is more demand from fans to see The Acolyte get renewed and the support online has been massive since the cancellation news last week.

You could also argue that the "Don't Renew The Acolyte" is not necessary since that is exactly what Lucasfilm has done and there is no reason for them to listen to that side.

It would be interesting to see whether the renewal campaign will have some effect as more fans continue to express their support as the days go by and we're not seeing signs that they are giving up anytime soon.
