DONGKIZ Jaechan Bullying Issue: Agency Responds to Damaging Buzz, Warns To Launch Legal Action

DONGKIZ Jaechan has been bombarded with a damaging issue following the success of Semantic Error.

K-pop fans have entered a new world after Jaechan and former KNK member Park Seo Ham offered a new romance drama to them. The recently-wrapped series tells the relationship between Jaechan’s Chu Sang Woo and Park Seoham’s Jang Jae Young as they attend a college together.

Semantic Error ended with high ratings before Park Seoham’s military enlistment, but Jaechan received a negative comment after an anonymous user claimed his past bullying issues. As people try pulling him down, Jaechan’s agency quickly dismissed the claims.

DONGKIZ Jaechan’s Bullying Claims

On Twitter, an anonymous user claimed that Jaechan smoked electric cigarettes at school. It added that the K-pop idol also harassed female students. To support the claims, the user shared graduation photos of him from elementary and middle school.

In response to this, Jaechan’s agency, Dongyo Entertainment, quickly dismissed claims and took legal action against the person who shared the post.

“After the post was published, we went through the process of checking with the artist personally and checking with his acquaintances, and we confirmed that what the post claims is not true. Since the relevant issue is a socially important matter, the agency had already gone through the process of checking with representatives of the school regarding [the artist’s] social and school life since before his debut, and we checked that there were no problems,” the first part of the post said.

The agency reportedly filed a lawsuit for cyber-libel and suspicion of slander on March 4. It reportedly continued to monitor the information that has since gone viral.

An investigator joined the case on Monday, prompting the beginning of the investigation. Dongyo Entertainment assured fans that it is checking the progress of the probe in real-time.

It also threatened to file more serious cases in the future without settlement if the false information and malicious comments about Jaechan.

Jaechan Thankful to Play Chu Sang Woo’s Role

Amid the malicious comments that continue to put dirt on his name, Jaechan chose to look at the brighter side and talked about the blessing he got after starring in the series.

According to the idol, the series made him widely known. Thus, he is now calling him a project of a lifetime.

“I think Sang Woo may be a character of a lifetime for me. Through Sang Woo, I met so many great people, and I gained a lot of confidence in myself. Thanks to Sang Woo, I think I will be able to have more confidence in myself in my future activities,” he went on.
