When Sunraku/Rakuro Hizutome started playing Shangri-La Frontier, he already encountered one of the strongest monsters in the game: Lycagon the Nightslayer. As he was just new to the game, he gets defeated by Lycagon, although he did put up a good fight. Since then, it has been Sunraku’s goal to beat the black wolf. So, does Sunraku defeat Lycagon the Nightslayer? Here’s what we know.

Who Is Lycagon the Nightslayer in Shangri-La Frontier?
Lycagon the Nightslayer is a unique monster and is one of the Seven Colossi in Shangri-La Frontier.
Lycagon is a black wolf who has a taste for good foes and does not care whether they are good or evil, wise or foolish.
The Nightslayer also leaves the Lycagon’s Mark to those deemed worthy opponents, like Sunraku. It is also revealed later on in the manga that Lycagon the Nightslayer is female.
Lycagon is encountered randomly, and many players, specifically those from the Schwarzer Wolf clan, have been looking for ways to run into the black wolf and defeat her.
But Sunraku already encountered Lycagon when he was just starting in the game. He encountered Lycagon when he was fighting a group of redcap goblins.
In the middle of the fight, Lycagon showed up out of nowhere and attacked. Sunraku didn’t even notice that the black wolf was nearby.
During their fight, Sunraku was able to take note of Lycagon’s movements, like how her swipes come in three patterns (diagonal, horizontal, and vertical) and how she uses a lot of delays.

Does Sunraku Beat Lycagon the Nightslayer?
Later in the manga, Sunraku encounters Lycagon the Nightslayer again, and this time with Psyger-0/Rei Saiga.
Both of them put up a good fight, and while it appeared that the Nightslayer was defeated, what they actually defeated was a Shadow Wolf clone.
The Lycagon’s Mark in Sunraku turns into the Lycagon’s Scar, which has a different set of effects. So, in the manga currently, Sunraku has not yet defeated Lycagon the Nightslayer.
He encounters other unique monsters, such as Wezaemon the Tombguard (which he defeats along with Arthur Pencilgon/Towa Amane and Oikatzu/Kei Uomi) and Ctarnidd of the Abyss.
But we have yet to see him beat the real Lycagon the Nightslayer in the manga and anime.
