Shangri-La Frontier: A Unique Video Game Anime
Shangri-La Frontier is set in the near future where full-dive VR games have become the popular form of gaming. Because of this, “trash games” or faulty games full of glitches exist.
Rakuro normally seeks out “trash games” and aims to master them. One day, he tries out a popular VR game called Shangri-La Frontier and enters its world as the player character Sunraku.
Rakuro then realizes that Shangri-La Frontier is not like other games he has played before.
Shangri-La Frontier started as a web novel series written by Katarina that began publishing on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2017.
The web novel series then received a manga adaptation illustrated by Ryosuke Fuji that started serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2020.
Do Rakuro and Rei Saiga End Up Together?
Rakuro and Rei do not get together in Shangri-La Frontier (at least, for now?). Rei and Rakuro are classmates in the real world, and Rei has a crush on Rakuro.
Both in the real world and in the Shangri-La Frontier game, Rei looks for ways to spend time with Rakuro.
She also asks other female characters what their relationship with Rakuro/Sunraku is.
But Rakuro is not aware of Rei’s feelings for him. He doesn’t even know that Psyger-0, one of the top players in Shangri-La Frontier, is Rei.

Do Rakuro and Towa Amane End Up Together?
Rakuro and Towa do not get together in Shangri-La Frontier. Towa, also known as the player Arthur Pencilgon, is just someone whom Rakuro has a history with in other games.
In Shangri-La Frontier, they form their clan, but nothing romantic happens between them. Rakuro only sees her as a friend and fellow gamer.

So, Who Does Rakuro End Up With?
As of writing, Rakuro has not ended up in a romantic relationship with any character. Apart from Rei’s crush on Rakuro, there isn’t much romance in Shangri-La Frontier.
Rakuro himself is focused on winning the games he plays and probably does not have time for romance. Rei might likely be the one Rakuro ends up with considering that she’s the only character who has feelings for him.
But then again, Rakuro doesn’t seem interested in a romance with anyone at all. So, we have yet to see (both in the anime and the manga) who Rakuro ends up with, or if he ends up with anyone at all.
