Doctor Who Reveals New List of Writers and Directors Ahead of Season 12 Trailer Release

It looks like the Thirteenth Doctor will be getting a new team to work with on Doctor Who Series 12. But don't worry, she's not getting new companions. The new team of writers and directors for the upcoming season of the BBC series has just been announced.

The announcement comes from BBC, which confirms that writers Nina Metivier, Maxine Alderton, and Charlene James will be joining the team. In addition to that, directors Nida Manzoor, Emma Sullivan, Jamie Magnus Stone, Lee Haven Jones will be working on the new episodes for Season 12.

Although there are several new names joining the Doctor Who creative team, Season 12 will also be bringing back some writers from the previous season. Vinay Patel, who wrote Demons of The Punjab, and Ed Hime of It Takes You Away will return this season. Additionally, Pete McTighe, who penned the delightful Kerblam!, will continue to write new episodes.

Head writer and showrunner Chris Chibnall is clearly happy with the new additions to his team.

"We're thrilled that Doctor Who continues to attract some of the most exciting and dynamic talent working in television," Chibnall said in a statement. "Along with our returning faces, we're excited to welcome new members to the Doctor Who family. The Doctor Who team is crammed with British television's brightest writers and directors: we've adored working with them, and can't wait to show you the explosive stuff they've created!"

It's a stellar line-up that promises awesome new episodes for Jodie Whittaker's Time Lord in the upcoming season. Hopefully, we'll get a glimpse at what to expect when the Season 12 trailer drops later this November.

Doctor Who Series 12 has not yet been given an official release date. However, the show is expected to return on BBC by early 2020.
