Doctor Who Moves to Disney+, Drops New Logo for 2023 Return

Doctor Who is ready for a new home. The beloved sci-fi series is making the big move to Disney+ and we just got a new logo for the long-running show.

The new logo was shared by the official Doctor Who Twitter account. The tweet also confirmed that the series will continue to be broadcast on BBC in the UK and will begin streaming on Disney+ in the rest of the world in 2023. Check out the new logo below.

New showrunner Russell T. Davies issued a statement about Doctor Who moving to Disney+.

"I love this show, and this is the best of both worlds – with the vision and joy of the BBC and Disney+ together we can launch the TARDIS all around the planet, reaching a new generation of fans while keeping our traditional home firmly on the BBC in the UK," Davies said.

Charlotte Moore, BBC's Chief Content Officer, shares Davies' excitement.

"We are thrilled to announce this exciting global partnership with Disney who are the perfect partners to bring this very British show to the rest of the world. Russell T Davies' vision for Doctor Who has always been out of this world and we are committed to ensuring that audiences across the globe get the opportunity to enjoy the Doctor's epic adventures with the scale and ambition that they deserve," Moore said.

"Joining forces with Disney will elevate the show to even greater heights and reach new audiences so it's an extremely exciting time for fans in the UK and across the world," she continued.

It's an interesting move for Doctor Who especially since The Power of the Doctor featured an unexpected development for the Time Lord. The special revealed David Tennant's return as the Fourteenth Doctor, which means that the previously confirmed Ncuti Gatwa will be introduced as the Fifteenth Doctor.

Doctor Who begins streaming on Disney+ in 2023.
