The wait for the next Doctor Who Special is almost over. The release date for Legend of the Sea Devils, this year's second Special Episode, has just been announced and it came with a cool new poster!
The highly anticipated announcement was made by the official Doctor Who Twitter account by sharing the new poster for the special episode Legend of the Sea Devils. The poster features a pirate flag bearing a Jolly Roger that resembles the Sea Devils. In addition to that, the release date is shown at the bottom of the poster. You can check it out below.
Legend of the Sea Devils is the second in a trio of Doctor Who specials that will be airing in 2022. It was preceded by Eve of the Daleks, which was broadcast on January 1, 2022. The third special episode has not yet been announced but is expected to air in Fall later this year.
The official description for Legend of the Sea Devils reads as follows:
"In a swashbuckling special adventure, the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) come face to fin with one of the Doctor’s oldest adversaries: the Sea Devils. Why has legendary pirate queen Madam Ching come searching for a lost treasure? What terrifying forces lurk beneath the oceans of the nineteenth century? And did Yaz really have to dress Dan up as a pirate?"
The upcoming Doctor Who specials are set to be Jodie Whittaker's final outings as the Thirteenth Doctor but the next actor who will play the Time Lord has not yet been announced. There have been speculations that Hugh Grant is being considered to take on the role as the Fourteenth Doctor but the casting news has not yet been confirmed.
The Doctor Who special Legend of the Sea Devils will premiere on April 17, 2022.
