Doctor Who: Chris Chibnall Shuts Down Series Exit Rumors, Says He's Already Working on Season 13

Have you heard that Doctor Who might be getting a new showrunner soon? Chris Chibnall says you shouldn't believe everything you find on the internet because he's not leaving the show anytime soon. In fact, he's already working on the follow-up to Series 12.

Chibnall recently spoke to journalists on the set of Doctor Who Season 12 (via RadioTimes) where he finally addressed rumors that he was exiting the show.

"Please write this verbatim – somebody made that up, it was a lie," Chibnall said. "It's 100% grade-A… shall I say nonsense, or shall I say bulls--t?"

The showrunner is clearly weary of all these rumors that have hounded him since he first started working on Doctor Who. "I don't know how many times to say it. I swear on my life," Chibnall concluded.

Chibnall is not the only target of false news. Jodie Whittaker also pointed out that there were speculations that Season 12 production had to be shut down due to her pregnancy. However, she clarified that she was not pregnant at all.

Although both Chibnall and Whittaker are quick to shut down the rumors, they also had some good news for fans. Chibnall confirmed that he is already working on Season 13 ahead of the Season 12 premiere. Hopefully, this will mean that Whovians won't have to wait too long for the next season.

Doctor Who Season 12 has not yet been given an official premiere date. Nevertheless, the series is expected to return on BBC in early 2020.
