The late Stan Lee would have celebrated his 97th birthday on December 28, 2019, and fans are celebrating the Marvel legend. One particular fan happens to be the screenwriter for Doctor Strange and he has a truly inspiring story to tell.
Screenwriter C. Robert Cargill shared his experience with Lee on Twitter. According to Cargill, he met the Spider-Man creator on the Doctor Strange red carpet after Lee sent his assistant to the writer. Cargill then revealed that Lee told him something that every person working in Marvel would ever want to hear.
"' You're the writer,' he said. 'One of them, yes.'
"' I just wanted to tell you how much I loved the movie. You got Stephen right.'
"Boom. All the validation I ever needed for STRANGE boiled down in two sentences. It didn't matter what critics or my friends thought. Stan loved it," Cargill wrote.
It's an amazing story that perfectly shows how Lee himself was the biggest Marvel fan of all time. Needless to say, it only makes us miss him even more. You can read Cargill's full story here.
Lee has appeared in almost every Marvel Cinematic Universe film since Iron Man. His final appearance was in Avengers: Endgame where he played a random soldier when Tony Stark and Steve Rogers went back to the past.
Lee passed away on November 12, 2018, which was only two months before his 96th birthday.
