Tilda Swinton played the role of the Ancient One in the first Doctor Strange film directed by Scott Derrickson. She was the sorcerer supreme and a mentor to Benedict Cumberbatch's superhero character. Unfortunately, Swinton's Ancient One got killed off in a battle with Kaecilius. For the fans who miss the actress, the director recently shared a photo of her on set.
Taking to Twitter, Derrickson shared an image of the actress sleeping in a chair on set in her Ancient One costume. The fans in the replies even joked about how she's not sleeping, rather, her Astral form is actually practicing her lines. You can check out the photo below:
Although the Ancient faced an unfortunate fate in the film, Swinton reprised her Marvel role in Avengers: Endgame as a version of her character from the past. Bruce Banner encounters her in the film when he traveled back in time to 2012 to retrieve the Time Stone. She is seen protecting the New York Sanctum, though reluctant at first, she eventually gave the stone to Banner.
For now, it's unclear whether the Ancient One will return in future Marvel films or in the Doctor Strange sequel.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled for release on May 7, 2021.
