Chinese Cinemas Expected to Reopen Starting with Avengers Movies

The entertainment industry might have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, but it looks like we're finally getting some good news. Now that there are lesser cases of the novel coronavirus in China, theatres in the East Asian country are expected to finally open at the end of the month, and it looks like they're going to start with rereleases of Marvel's Avengers movies.

According to a report by Deadline, China has begun planning reopening its cinemas, and it looks like the country is going to start with movies that are already available like Marvel's Avengers movies. While the site hasn't really confirmed what Avengers movies might be included during the reopening, we believe it will include Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

"They're starting to lay out a plan for the re-opening of cinema in China," Imax CEO Richard Gelfond told the entertainment news outlet, "They're starting to assess what movies are available, in what time periods and how they want to manage the re-opening."

The other movies that China plans releasing during its cinema opening later this month will be Monster Hunt, Wolf Warrior 2, The Wandering Earth, and the animated feature film Ne Zha. Chinese filmgoers will also get to see a remastered version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as well as Interstellar and Inception.

We're glad to see the Chinese film market getting back up on its feet. It's great that we're getting some good news amidst all the terrible COVID-19 news in the entertainment industry.
