Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4 Top Fandango's Most Anticipated Summer 2022 Movies List

We're now closer to the summer movie season where a lot of tentpole films are set to be released. However, what makes it more special this year is that it looks like we're almost back to the usual summer season that we know of since the last two years didn't have the typical fare as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, everything is set to be in full motion and it looks like a lot of people are excited to see the slate that will be released in the next few months.

Fandango recently conducted a survey among more than 6,000 of its ticket-buyers regarding their moviegoing plans this summer and the films that they are anticipating. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder ended up leading the list of their Top 10 Most Anticipated Summer 2022 Movies.

They are followed by other films such as Jurassic World: Dominion, Top Gun: Maverick, and Minions: The Rise of Guru. Here is the complete top 10 list:

In addition, they also reported that 83% of the people that they surveyed said that they are planning to see at least 3 films this season. They also found out that 89% of them said that going to the movie theaters is their number one favorite outside activity and 99% said that they are happy with their recent visits to the theaters.

Regarding the factors that influenced their moviegoing, 95% of them said that it has something to do with their favorite genre, 93% said that it's because of an interesting trailer, and 91% said that they based it on recommendations from friends and family.

Given the buzz that the aforementioned films have been getting in the past several weeks, it's not surprising to see them top the list and it is a validation that a lot of audiences will be anticipating their release. We will never know if it's going to be an indication of their potential box office success, but it does show us that this summer season will feel like it is going back to normal again.
