Doctor Strange 2: New Evidence Confirms Lashana Lynch is Playing Captain Marvel

The new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave us a lot of glimpses at the upcoming sequel which is looking like it's going to be the most bonkers adventure in the MCU yet as Doctor Strange is set to travel into the multiverse to face a mysterious new adversary.

Besides the confirmed appearance of Patrick Stewart returning as Charles Xavier, it looks like Captain Marvel is also set to appear in the film as we saw a quick look at her fighting Wanda Maxmimoff. It's clear in the trailer that it's not Brie Larson's Carol Danvers and it's going to be a variant from another universe. A lot of fans are convinced that, based on the trailer, Lashana Lynch is going to make her MCU return as the Maria Rambeau variant of Captain Marvel. While Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed her casting in the film yet, a piece of new evidence has emerged which might confirm that the actress is indeed going to appear in the upcoming film.

If you look at the IMDb page of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a stunt double of Lynch named Nikkilette Wright is credited as part of the film's stunt team. While it didn't specifically say that Lynch is playing Captain Marvel in the film, it does say that she is part of it. Given that the role has a stunt double, we can safely say that it's because she will be playing the Maria Rambeau variant of Captain Marvel which obviously requires a lot of stunt work. Since the trailer showed that the character is in the film, we can conclude that Lynch is going to play Captain Marvel.

We do have to take note that IMDb is not 100% reliable when it comes to films that are still in production since anyone can have the access to edit the page. Marvel Studios also hasn't confirmed yet that Lynch is part of the film. However, given what we saw in the trailer and the fact that the stunt double's inclusion on the page hasn't been edited for removal as of this time, we can safely assume for now that Lynch is going to be Captain Marvel in the film. Of course, you can still take this with a grain of salt and we will never know the official answer until someone from the film officially confirmed it or the release of a new trailer or the film itself.

Assuming that this is all true, it is interesting to know that Maria Rambeau will be making her return in the MCU and, this time, she's going to be a Captain Marvel variant from another universe. It does tell us about the direction that the film will take on how they are going to handle the multiverse. Given that they had two major surprise reveals in the new trailer, imagine what more do they have in store for the rest of the other secret characters. It really is going to be a multiverse of madness and, based on the responses, the audience is ready for it.
