Doctor Strange 2 Is Reportedly Looking To Cast A Chinese-American For Major Role


There's been a lot of questions about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wow that Avengers: Endgame has completed its original theatrical release. However, while most of Marvel's plans for Phase 4 of the MCU remains largely a secret, fans know that the studio is planning to develop a second Doctor Strange standalone movie.

There's been a lot of talk about Doctor Strange 2, and now that Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to come swinging into cinemas next week, we might finally get to hear some official news on the Mystic Arts movie.

Right now, ComicBook.com has a verified casting breakdown indicating that production for Doctor Strange 2 is set to begin early in 2020 and according to the site it looks like Marvel is hoping to cast a major new member in the franchise.

An untitled Marvel Studios project is currently scheduled from production between January and May 2020 and the company is searching for an actor to cast for the role a character named will.

Here's the description of the character:

"Mid-20s, Chinese-American (must be able to do a standard American accent)," and that's it. That's the whole breakdown."

Discussing Film reports that this casting breakdown is meant for Doctor Strange 2, meaning that Marvel is looking to cast an Asian American actor for a role that we've yet to learn. The character could very well be a regular human, or it could be another sorcerer meant to help or rebel against Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme. Let's wait and see.
