Doctor Strange 2 Holds Record for Fandango's Best First Day Pre-Sales So Far in 2022

There's no doubt at this point that there is huge excitement about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness not just because it is a follow-up to 2016's Doctor Strange, WandaVision, and the recent Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it will also delve into the multiverse which opens the possibilities of a lot of Marvel characters showing up including the return of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier.

When tickets went on sale yesterday, there have been reports that some ticketing sites have crashed which just shows that a lot of people are looking forward to seeing the film and making sure that they are going to watch it as soon as it gets released in theaters due to its assumed spoiler-heavy nature.

Now, Fandango has confirmed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently holding the record for the best first-day pre-sales so far this year, beating The Batman. Deadline also noted in their report regarding this news that it is the best since Spider-Man: No Way Home although it didn't topple them.

This impressive record is also a sign that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will have a great opening weekend when it gets released this May. While it may not break Spider-Man: No Way Home's $260 million opening weekend record, there is a chance that it will reach closer to that number, especially with the hype on the surprise characters that might show up in the film.

Of course, its overall box office results will depend on the buzz and word-of-mouth leading up to the release. As long as there is positive reception, the film should do very well and the hype and excitement will definitely help a lot in making people want to see it during opening weekend. We have a month away to find out if this record will translate to a great opening weekend number.
