Who Are Akari and Jirou in More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers?
Akari is the main female protagonist of the romantic comedy anime titled More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers. She is a gyaru who gets paired with Jirou for a couple training course.
The couple training course is a practical organized by the school to train the students to become better partners when they get married.
Akari’s main aim is to partner up with Minami Tenjin, who is her ultimate crush. She is ready to do anything to become his partner in this mock marriage training.
Being a gyaru, Akari appears rude in the beginning but she softens as the series progresses.
On the other hand, Jirou is the main male lead of More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers. He is Akari’s partner but his heart wants him to be with his childhood friend named Shiori Sakurazaka.
Like Akari, he is willing to do anything to be with Shiori, so in order to achieve their goals, Jirou and Akari team up to get as many points as possible.
According to the rules, if a pair manages to get into the top 10 list, they earn the right to swap partners.
Akari and Jirou are heavily banking on this rule as they strive to act like ideal newlyweds. However, there is a catch – both couples need to agree to switch partners.
Do Jirou and Akari End up Together in More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers?
The manga has not ended yet, so it is difficult to determine if Akari and Jirou end up together as lovers.
However, it can't be denied that Jirou and Akari’s chemistry is electrifying. It was evident since the first episode that there is a push and pull between them.
Jirou and Akari kissed each other pretty early in the story. In fact, it was later revealed that Akari’s first kiss ever was with Jirou.
Meanwhile, in the newly-released Chapter 53 of the manga, Akari and Jirou’s relationship seemed to have hit a rocky patch.
In the chapter, Akari confessed to Jirou that no matter what, she would always be by his side.
She added that she wanted him to believe her over other people who don’t know anything about him.
However, she could feel that her words were not getting through to him. And it was the first time that she realized that their feelings were getting farther and farther apart.
Akari recognized the feeling of not being trusted by the one she loves.
Despite all that, can Jirou and Akari bounce back and overcome this tough phase in their relationship? Will they be able to take their partnership to the next level?
