Director Neill Blomkamp turned heads and opened a lot of eyes with his debut feature film District 9. The groundbreaking science-fiction film which released in 2009 follows the story of extraterrestrial beings who came to Earth not to invade it and cause fear and mayhem, but to seek refuge as their own planet was on the brink of extinction.
District 10 screenplay also being written by @sharlto @territatchell and I. Its coming..."
It's fantastic news especially for the fans who have long been waiting to see a District 9 sequel happen. While we still don't know what the actual plot of the sequel will be, it's worth noting that in the original film, Copley's character Wikus van de Merwe succumbed to the virus which transformed him from a normal human being into one of the aliens that have been quarantined in South Africa's slums.
It's safe to assume that the film will pick up exactly where it left off but logically speaking, District 10 being set a least 10 years into the future would make the most sense. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
District 10 is in active development.
