Disney+’s Ms. Marvel Series to Start Shooting in November

Things are surely moving faster than expected for Disney+'s Ms. Marvel series. While we were expecting Kamala Khan to have her own solo outing in MCU Phase 5, it looks like production is already starting sooner than anticipated.

According to Murphy's Multiverse, Ms. Marvel is now looking at a November start in Atlanta with production expected to wrap in March 2021. We don't have any news on who would be playing Kamala yet, but the source claims that the studio is already starting to ‘zero in' on who is going to play her.

If anything, the MCU will already have some help introducing Kamala into the mainstream. Besides appearances in animated shows, Kamala is also going to be a main character in the upcoming Avengers: A-Day game from Square Enix. We don't know how she'll be characterized yet, but I think it's essential that her Muslim heritage is explored in the series. Other than that, it should also be emphasized that Kamala is a huge Avengers fan.

While I would really prefer that Kamala gets introduced in a film, I guess a miniseries would be the safest way for the MCU to present her. With Captain Marvel already getting more backlash than it deserves, it would be better for everyone's sanity if obscure characters like Kamala don't just suddenly jump into the mainstream. Besides, there's still the concern of introducing bigger names like the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

We don't have a release date for Ms. Marvel yet, but if the production date is any indication, the series could debut sometime in 2022.
