Disney fans might appreciate the steps that the Mickey Mouse House has been making to make sure that they get an all-Asian cast for its upcoming live-action remake of Mulan, but changes to the original film's plot points have been rather disappointing.
Not only will the film replace the original movie's villain, the Mongolian leader Shan-Yu, but it's also replacing Mulan's primary love interest General Li Shang with a character named Chen Honghui to be played by the actor Yoson An. Amidst these disappointments, however, is a little silver lining – Disney's Mulan is going to bring back the original movie's lovable trio Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po.
The news comes from Skyler Shuler, the editor-in-chief of the DisneyInsider, a news site that follows Disney film news. Shuler just recently took to Twitter to say that he just found out that Disney would be featuring Mulan's friends in their upcoming live-action remake.

This is definitely great news for those following Mulan's updates. Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po are some of the soldiers who meet Mulan when she decides to replace her father and head off to war for China. Though the trio start off as Mulan's antagonists, they eventually become her closest friends.
Mulan is set for release on March 27, 2020.
