Disney's Live-Action Beauty & The Beast Earns Over a Billion Dollars at The Box Office

The success of Disney's live-action adaptations of their animated classics continues, but only few has accomplished what the latest one has done. Beauty and the Beast has grossed 1 billion mark at the box office, becoming the 29th film to cross that mark. The film has only been released in the U.S. for a month but with the amount hype that contributed to the film's success, I'm not surprised that it was able to accomplish that.

The other films that crossed the 1 billion mark are:

  1. Avatar
  2. Titanic
  3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  4. Jurassic World
  5. The Avengers
  6. Furious 7
  7. Avengers: Age of Ultron
  8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
  9. Frozen
  10. Iron Man 3
  11. Minions
  12. Captain America: Civil War
  13. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
  14. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
  15. Skyfall
  16. Transformers: Age of Extinction
  17. The Dark Knight Rises
  18. Toy Story 3
  19. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
  20. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  21. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
  22. Jurassic Park
  23. Finding Dory
  24. Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace
  25. Alice in Wonderland
  26. Zootopia
  27. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
  28. The Dark Knight

Disney's Beauty and the Beast is now this year's highest-grossing film (though I think The Fate of the Furious is likely to surpass it) and it's also now the highest-grossing live-action musical ever.
