Disney Releases Two Full Songs from Mary Poppins Returns

Besides the fantastic visuals, one of the main draws of the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel is the songs. The film will come with some new original songs, and DisneyVEVO has given us two full ones before the release of the film. Take a listen to Lin-Manuel Miranda with Trip a Little Light Fantastic and Emily Blunt with The Place Where Lost Things Go.

Already you can compare the songs to the original Poppins. Light Fantastic seems to be the equivalent of Step in Time where the chimney sweeps are now replaced with lamplighters. The somber tone of Lost Things also sounds like this film's version of Feed the Birds; either that or Stay Awake.

No doubt there are more songs in the film that we have to watch out for, but I'm thinking Disney is going to hold on to those until the film comes out.

I actually love what I'm hearing, and the tunes already have a lot of Broadway potential. And even if I'm already impressed with the music, I can't wait to see the actual dance numbers in the film. Besides music and visuals, the first Mary Poppins also had some great choreography. No doubt this sequel is going to try and top that.

In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.
