Disney Releases First Episode of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny Online

Star Wars fans might still be months away from the premiere of the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but Lucasfilm has been trying its best to keep the community busy by releasing a brand new web series called Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.

A series of animated shorts, Forces of Destiny feature the everyday adventures of Star Wars heroines like Carrie Fisher's Leia, Daisy Ridley's Rey, Natalie Portman's Padme Amidala, Felicity Jone's Jyn Erso, and of course voce actress Ashley Ecstein's Ahsoka Tano. The short episodes which last 3 minutes long give fans a look at Star Wars strong female characters outside the films and animated series they usually star in.

The first episode of the series, Sands of Jakku, just premiered online today. Showcasing Rey's time with BB-8 after she rescues the ballsy droid from scavengers, the episode reveals how the Force sensitive orphan had to rescue her new friend from another enemy encounter, this time a huge nightwatcher worm.

Short but sweet, the new episode gives young Star Wars fans a better look at the franchise's female role models and gives the older generation something to pass the time with while waiting for the first official trailer for The Last Jedi.

The Last Jedi makes its way to the big screen on December 15, 2017.
