A lot of MCU fans have been looking forward to the premiere of the upcoming series Secret Invasion, which has been in the works for a while. We kept on hearing that it is set for release this year, but Marvel and Disney+ remain mum about its date. Fortunately, we finally know when the series will arrive and it is coming just in time for the summer season.
As reported by The Direct, Disney+ has finally revealed on Secret Invasion's official page that the series is set to premiere on Wednesday, June 21. Its arrival comes just weeks after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's release in theaters and months ahead of The Marvels' premiere this fall.
It was previously announced that the series was set to premiere this spring, but there were rumors that Marvel Studios may delay it before this eventual confirmation. It will also set the largest gap between MCU shows since it will be eight months since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ended its run.
The series is led by returning MCU characters Nick Fury and Talos. It is described as a crossover event that "showcases a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years."
The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Cobie Smulders, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Martin Freeman, Don Cheadle, Dermot Mulroney, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, Carmen Ejogo, and Charlayne Woodard. Kyle Bradstreet serves as the head writer/showrunner.
It is certainly exciting to hear that the series finally has a release date since a lot of MCU fans have been looking forward to its premiere, especially in the midst of reports that Marvel Studios is slowing down their delivery of content for streaming. The second season of Loki is also set to release later this year.
