It's hard to imagine Rocket Raccoon being voiced by someone else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bradley Cooper has clearly proven over the years that he aces the role and he's portrayed the lovable character quite flawlessly. Now, this may be hard to believe but Disney apparently had doubts over the casting choice and as it turns out, they never wanted Cooper to be in Guardians of the Galaxy in the first place.

This interesting bit was revealed by director James Gunn himself. It all began when a Twitter user named B.J. Peterson pointed out that even though Bradley turned out to be the perfect casting choice for Rocket, he still couldn't imagine the Oscar-nominated actor's voice coming out of the feisty character.

Gunn retweeted the post and explained a little backstory behind Cooper's casting. he wrote: "One exec - who is no longer with Marvel Studios/Disney - saw an early cut & said "Why did we pay money for Bradley Cooper if he doesn't even sound like Bradley Cooper!?" I was like, we hired him because he's a great ACTOR. That's the point! He's creating a CHARACTER!"

This goes to prove that just because you're an executive, it already means that you know better because apparently, that's not the case. Thankfully, the unnamed Marvel Studios executive's opinion of the casting didn't affect the project altogether and we now get to enjoy Bradley's portrayal of the character. Hopefully, Rocket gets a much-deserved upgrade in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 because quite frankly, he shined so much in Avengers: Endgame.

But before GOTG 3, Rocket is expected to return in Thor: Love and Thunder, hitting cinemas in 2022.
