Disney In Talks With Tom Hanks To Star In Live-Action Pinocchio

It looks like Toy Story 4 voice actor Tom Hanks is being offered another role in another Disney film, this time the Mickey Mouse House's live-action reimagining of Pinocchio.

As per Variety, Hanks is currently in early talks to star as Geppetto, Pinocchio's father, in the puppet's upcoming live-action film. Pinocchio serves as a retelling of the classic animated movie that Disney released back in 1940, a movie which told the story about a living puppet who tries to prove himself worthy of becoming a real boy together with the help of a cricket and a few other friends. Geppetto, Pinocchio's puppet-maker, becomes a father figure to the living puppet, and eventually becomes the father of the child.

Right now there isn't that much information about the film, but Paddington director Paul King is set to helm the project while Chris Weitz and Andrew Miano are serving as the project's producer. According to variety, King, Weitz, and Simon Farnaby just recently wrote the most recent draft of the film.

This new live-action project is one in many that Disney's been producing the past few years. The Mickey Mouse House has made live-action versions of Cinderella, Tarzan, The Jungle Book, and most recently Beauty and the Beast, the most successful film among the studio's many remakes. Next year, Disney is releasing three more other live-action retellings of their classic films like Dumbo, Aladdin, and The Lion King.

Of course, this new Pinocchio movie might take a bit of time considering how busy Hanks is with his upcoming Wold War II film Greyhound and his role in Toy Story 4.

Pinocchio doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
