There have been rumors for a while now that X-Men: First Class and Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn is in talks to direct a DCU movie. The Authority is reportedly the project that DC Studios is eyeing for him to helm in the franchise.

So far, neither Vaughn nor DC Studios have commented on the rumor, but it continued to prevail for the past few months as fans are looking forward to hearing more news and updates about the various DCU projects that are currently in the works.

Given that Vaughn has a lot of experience directing good action-packed films in the past, he is definitely an ideal choice to helm a DCU movie like The Authority. Fans have also been supportive of the idea ever since the rumor emerged.

Now, the director himself has addressed the rumor and it looks like there is a validity to it after all.

In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Vaughn confirmed that he has been in talks with DC Studios chairmen James Gunn and Peter Safran to potentially direct a DCU movie.

However, nothing official has been made yet as he is still more committed to working on his own original projects.

"DC has reached out and Gunn and Peter, we’ve been talking. Never say never, at the moment I’m enjoying creating my own things. The franchise is in the best hands, so let’s see what happens," Vaughn said.

As it turns out, the rumors that we've been hearing for the past few months have been true after all and the possibility of Vaughn directing a DCU movie like The Authority could become a reality at some point if the negotiations go well.

It's also ideal to have someone like Vaughn direct The Authority since it's a group of characters that are not familiar to the general audience and he has proved in the past that he can pull obscure characters into mainstream popularity.

For now, let's wait and see how it will all unfold in the coming months, but at the very least, we now have the confirmation that Vaughn is in consideration to be involved in the franchise.
