Director James Gunn Teases Mysterious DC Project That Involves Peacemaker Characters


James Gunn has been totally engaged on DC's side of things after the director helmed blockbuster film The Suicide Squad and HBO Max's fan-beloved series Peacemaker. Following Peacemaker's triumphant streaming hit, rumors swirled that an Amanda Waller spinoff will follow the series, which Gunn recently addressed.

Aside from talking about the Amanda Waller spinoff series, Gunn also talked about another mysterious DC project that involves characters from Peacemaker.


In a recent interview with The Playlist, Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn was asked about the progress of Amanda Waller's DC standalone series. Gunn candidly says that not all details regarding the project are true. The director also added that he is currently occupied working on another undisclosed DC project that involves characters from Peacemaker, but did not directly divulge Amanda Waller's inclusion.

Gunn explained, "We haven’t even announced any TV series yet. There’s a lot of stories out there about what’s happening, and some of them are accurate, some of them are not. I am working very seriously on another DC project, where I’m very involved in the writing and the direction of it.There will be some blending of the characters from Peacemaker’ in the other shows I’m working on. And I’m involved with a couple of other [DC] things too."

After several reports surface and claim that an Amanda Waller series is being developed under Warner Bros., fans instantly believed these were true. However, the Amanda Waller series hasn't been officially announced by Warner Bros. and initial reports state that Viola Davis is currently in talks to produce and star in the series, but has not yet signed any deal, making the series off the record for now.

Nevertheless, it's certainly pleasant to know that acclaimed director James Gunn is working on another DC project. Aside from the greenlit Peacemaker Season 2, this mysterious project is something new to anticipate, especially after Gunn revealed that it would include Peacemaker characters that fans undoubtedly loved.
